The next generation of experiencing the world in 3D online has arrived in the form of yellowBird.Its very similar to Google streetview but differs in the way they capture data.The most prominent difference is that yellowBird captures video and Streetview only captures photographs which results in yellowBird being more dynamic.The yellowBird camera uses six cleverly divided lenses in order to capture every possible viewing direction. The camera generates an impressive data stream.The uncompressed footage retrieved from the camera is stitched to a single stream. Subsequently, the editing points are determined and supplemented with color correction and sound editing. Adding sound can consist of the audio stream recorded on the scene, but also of background music or possible sound effects.The yellowBird player really brings the 3-D videos to life. The seemingly normal Flash player offers a unique possibility to watch 3-D content interactively, offline or online, and every single visitor is able to choose a desired viewing direction - like being there yourself and turning your head.
A beta version of yellowBird is available on their website ,but be warned it requiers a very fast internet connection in order to work smoothly.
